About the position

The General Manager/Director at Little Kitchen Academy is responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring efficiency, and enhancing the student experience. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence and supporting the strategic goals of the organization. The position requires active participation in classes, management of staff, and communication with families, all while adhering to the organization's core beliefs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations and ensure efficiency in the academy.
  • Participate in a minimum of 5 classes per week as lead, support, or environment instructor.
  • Drive enrollment following the Director Marketing routine.
  • Manage labor and payroll reports according to LKA requirements.
  • Oversee employee management including hiring, training, and maintaining standards of excellence.
  • Build and support a strong team of instructors.
  • Communicate with LKA families via email, phone, and face-to-face as needed.
  • Build and maintain the seasonal schedule of classes in the enrollment platform.
  • Adjust class offerings based on enrollment interest.
  • Manage the Seasonal Curriculum Plan to support allergies and special needs.
  • Prepare and manage orders for ingredients and supplies for classes.
  • Maintain operational excellence using MeazureUp audits.
  • Cover shifts in case of unexpected staffing absences.
  • Build partnerships with local schools and businesses.
  • Research and share local marketing opportunities with the support team.

Requirements

  • Valid CPR/AED and Food Handler Training certifications are required.
  • Clear Criminal Background Check is required.
  • Associate's degree in Child Development, Culinary Arts, Nutrition, Montessori or other relevant 2-year degree is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children is preferred.
  • Previous experience in food service, personal chef, catering, or restaurant is preferred.
  • Previous business management experience, including scheduling, payroll, budgets, and forecasting is preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are necessary.
  • Mathematical skills for basic calculations and reading scales are required.
  • Physical ability to stand and move continuously throughout an eight-hour shift.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Management experience of 2 years is preferred.
  • Food Safety Certification is preferred.
  • First Aid Certification is preferred.
