The position requires the organization of a competent sales management team, focusing on the selection, development, management, and motivation of personnel to maximize sales and meet company objectives. In addition to sales management, the General Manager is tasked with ensuring full line distribution of products, analyzing department budget requests, and directing the sales department's operations within established budgets. This includes effective communication and supervision of personnel to enhance profitability. The role also emphasizes quality assurance through training and monitoring of company standards, ensuring maximum product exposure through merchandising and displays, and coordinating sales efforts with supplier personnel to maximize program execution. The General Manager will represent the organization in industry associations and maintain a professional image in the marketplace. Supervisory responsibilities include managing subordinate supervisors across various departments, conducting interviews, training employees, and addressing performance issues. The position requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, strong communication and mathematical skills, and the ability to analyze and interpret business data. The General Manager must also be able to travel up to 20% of the time and meet company driver qualifications.
