About the position

The General Manager at Admiral Beverage Corporation's Gillette Sales Center is responsible for directing and coordinating all activities to ensure optimum efficiency and profitability. This role involves overseeing the management of over 1 million cases of soft drinks and Teton alcohol and non-alcohol beverages across five counties with a population exceeding 100,000. The General Manager will implement and achieve annual sales, margin, and expense P&L's, as well as strategic plans, including the development and execution of promotional pricing strategies. The position requires the organization of a competent sales management team, focusing on the selection, development, management, and motivation of personnel to maximize sales and meet company objectives. In addition to sales management, the General Manager is tasked with ensuring full line distribution of products, analyzing department budget requests, and directing the sales department's operations within established budgets. This includes effective communication and supervision of personnel to enhance profitability. The role also emphasizes quality assurance through training and monitoring of company standards, ensuring maximum product exposure through merchandising and displays, and coordinating sales efforts with supplier personnel to maximize program execution. The General Manager will represent the organization in industry associations and maintain a professional image in the marketplace. Supervisory responsibilities include managing subordinate supervisors across various departments, conducting interviews, training employees, and addressing performance issues. The position requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, strong communication and mathematical skills, and the ability to analyze and interpret business data. The General Manager must also be able to travel up to 20% of the time and meet company driver qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate activities to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations and maximize profits.
  • Develop, implement, and achieve annual sales, margin, and expense P&L's and strategic plans.
  • Organize a competent sales management team by directing the selection, development, management, and motivation of personnel.
  • Maximize sales of all products by establishing and implementing effective sales and marketing programs.
  • Ensure full line distribution of all products in accordance with company and supplier objectives.
  • Analyze department budget requests to identify areas for reductions and allocate operating budget accordingly.
  • Direct the operation of the sales department within established budgets through effective communication and supervision of personnel.
  • Direct quality assurance of products through training, guidance, and monitoring of company quality standards.
  • Ensure maximum product exposure through merchandising, POS, and displays to increase market share and profitability.
  • Coordinate with supplier field business area personnel to maximize program execution and profitability.
  • Promote the organization in industry or trade associations.
  • Present a professional image to customers and the marketplace.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BSA) or equivalent plus more than 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints and effectively present information to top management and public groups.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts and apply basic concepts of algebra.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
