About the position

The General Manager of Global Advanced Manufacturing at Harley-Davidson is responsible for overseeing the new product life cycle plan within global manufacturing operations. This role focuses on leading innovation and automation in manufacturing processes, establishing manufacturing standards, and managing the global packaging of components for motorcycle production. The GM will work closely with various teams to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency in manufacturing, while also driving organizational transformation and employee engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Chief Engineers, Managers, and Staff to deliver the new product life cycle plan for manufacturing and packaging.
  • Develop, set, and maintain manufacturing and packaging requirements for product development.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to establish design, manufacturing, and quality control requirements.
  • Lead organizational and cultural transformation efforts within product development.
  • Provide clear direction, goals, and strategies to team members.
  • Establish technology roadmaps focused on manufacturing process advancements and efficiency.
  • Conduct portfolio management by developing and prioritizing future project lists.
  • Mentor and motivate direct and indirect reports through development and performance planning.
  • Establish new product launch strategy for development and launch readiness deliverables.
  • Create relationships with cross-functional stakeholders built on trust and accountability.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 20 years of leadership experience in product development or operations.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience leading R&D organizations in advanced manufacturing.
  • Experience developing AI roadmap for manufacturing organizations.
  • Knowledge of industry quality standards and processes such as APQP, 8D, ISO, PPAP, DFSS.
  • Expertise in budgeting, cash management, and cost controls.
  • Subject matter expert in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the automotive, off-highway, all-terrain, or all-purpose vehicle industries.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in leading and managing effective teams.
  • Extensive experience identifying, vetting, and developing new suppliers.
