About the position

The General Manager (GM) will oversee the operations of a special occasion restaurant, ensuring high standards of service and teamwork. This role involves managing staff, maintaining health department standards, and ensuring guest satisfaction. The GM will also handle administrative tasks such as payroll and inventory management, while fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee service at Maxwell's and ensure high standards of accountability for all employees.
  • File shifts for bartending, serving, hosting, and support staff as needed.
  • Ensure staff adheres to schedules set with Senior Management and Partners and remains within budget.
  • Submit weekly payroll to the COO.
  • Ensure Health Department standards are met in conjunction with the Executive Chef.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship between BOH and FOH staff.
  • Responsible for guest satisfaction during shifts as Manager.
  • Complete checklists if closing and send shift updates for each service.
  • Lead daily pre-shift meetings and communicate with staff on events, menu changes, and expectations.
  • Conduct write-ups for staff as needed.
  • Oversee Bar Menu and ordering, including wine, beer, liquor, soda, and CO2 orders.
  • Coordinate with the office for entry of all bar items into Xtrachef.
  • Oversee beverage inventory to be completed on the 1st of each month.
  • Coordinate appropriate levels of linens and other supply items.
  • Ensure the restaurant is clean, organized, presentable, functional, and up to brand standards.
  • Assist in training staff regarding service standards and offerings.
  • Update Toast with any changes and ensure proper communication to staff and marketing team.
  • Communicate changes and specials with management and marketing staff for promotion on social media.

Requirements

  • At least 3+ years of restaurant leadership experience.
  • Experience in fine dining is a huge plus, but willing to train the right person.
  • Computer and administrative savvy.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
