About the position

The General Manager is responsible for leading a Business Unit within Republic Services, overseeing all operational facets and ensuring profitability. This role involves managing a diverse team across various functions, executing local market strategies, and driving initiatives for operational excellence and budget achievement. The General Manager also represents the company to external stakeholders and ensures compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Implement and execute plans to complement the Area's strategic operating plan.
• Drive commercial, industrial, residential, and municipal sales efforts to achieve growth objectives.
• Oversee safety and accident prevention programs to ensure a safe work environment.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, regulatory, and operational standards.
• Manage performance and talent development within the team.
• Build and maintain relationships with government, community, and environmental groups.
• Lead change management initiatives to sustain new processes.

Requirements

• Demonstrated business acumen and strategic thinking.
