About the position

The HUB Stadium, recognized as Detroit's premier destination for axe throwing and various entertainment options, is seeking a General Manager to oversee its multi-million-dollar revenue center. This role is pivotal in leading and developing all aspects of the business, ensuring operational excellence and guest satisfaction. The General Manager will be responsible for setting business objectives and performance goals across departments, conducting regular meetings with department heads to review procedures and performance metrics. Financial oversight is a key component of this position, requiring the preparation and presentation of financial and operational reports to senior management. In this dynamic role, the General Manager will create a quality environment through effective staffing, evaluations, and maintenance of operational standards. Responsibilities include overseeing scheduled inventories, ensuring compliance with administrative processes, and managing front-of-house scheduling to meet budgeted labor targets. The General Manager will also implement expense control systems, monitor department expenses, and ensure appropriate forecasting systems are utilized. Collaboration with the Sales & Marketing, Active Entertainment, Beverage, and Kitchen teams is essential to develop and implement promotions and innovative ideas that enhance guest experiences. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and administrative skills, proven problem-solving abilities, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. With a minimum of 10 years in a senior leadership role within the restaurant or entertainment industry, the General Manager will have superior knowledge of operational functions, including finance, customer service, and employee management. This position requires a proactive approach to developing innovative solutions for increased productivity and efficiency, as well as a commitment to creating a positive work environment centered on teamwork and mutual respect. The General Manager will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with food sanitation and safety regulations, training staff, and maintaining high standards of guest service.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop all aspects of the multi-million-dollar revenue center.
  • Set business objectives and performance goals for each department.
  • Conduct meetings with department heads to review and monitor procedures and performance.
  • Provide financial oversight and prepare financial and operations reports for senior management.
  • Create a quality environment through staffing, evaluations, and maintenance.
  • Oversee scheduled inventories and ensure proper administration processes are followed.
  • Manage front-of-house scheduling to meet budgeted labor targets.
  • Implement expense control systems and monitor department expenses.
  • Utilize appropriate forecasting systems for operational planning.
  • Collaborate with Sales & Marketing, Active Entertainment, Beverage, and Kitchen teams to develop promotions and new ideas.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local food sanitation and safety regulations.
  • Select and develop a qualified staff of Service Excellence Employees.
  • Develop employees using Performance Review Systems and Cross Training.
  • Create an excellent work environment focused on guest satisfaction.
  • Implement training programs to ensure staff is properly trained.
  • Conduct daily walkthroughs in all Front of House areas to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure department managers are performing their duties according to established standards and procedures.
  • Initiate and control a wine/beverage sales incentive for the service team.
  • Project a positive image of the organization to employees and maintain morale.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience in the restaurant or entertainment field.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Proven problem-solving and negotiation abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead teams from all departments.
  • Superior knowledge of operational functions including finance, customer service, and employee management.
  • Proven ability to plan and manage operational processes for maximum efficiency and productivity.
  • Strong working knowledge of industry regulations and legislative guidelines.
  • Experience with budget and business plan development.
  • Proven ability to develop innovative solutions for increased productivity.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in food and beverage management (7 years preferred).
  • Ability to relocate to Novi, MI before starting work.
