About the position

The General Manager I position at Harry Reid International Airport is responsible for managing a Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) or a small cluster of restaurants, ensuring high operational and financial standards are met. The role involves overseeing staff, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring the restaurant is fully operational. The GM is expected to make leadership decisions, manage profit and loss, and foster a positive work environment for employees.

Responsibilities

  • Open and close the restaurant, ensuring all staff understand the importance of these processes.
  • Deploy staff and resources to maximize profitability and accept P&L responsibility.
  • Provide consistent support, coaching, and encouragement to restaurant staff to achieve business goals.
  • Conduct interviews and make hiring, termination, and promotion decisions for associates.
  • Promote HMSHost as an employer of choice within the local community.
  • Ensure compliance with onboarding and offboarding processes for all restaurant associates.
  • Monitor financial and operational data to track progress towards unit goals.
  • Recognize and reward restaurant staff for their contributions and performance.
  • Ensure product availability and oversee inventory management and vendor relations.
  • Conduct training and development activities for restaurant associates.
  • Manage day-to-day activities and resolve customer and associate issues as they arise.
  • Implement marketing programs and drive revenue through promotional activities.
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety standards and train staff accordingly.

Requirements

  • 3 years of profit and loss management experience in a restaurant setting.
  • Team management experience with the ability to delegate and resolve issues.
  • Restaurant experience, preferably in QSR or similar complexity environments.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, policy documents, and menus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduation from a Food Service Management or Culinary program may substitute for some experience requirements.
  • Knowledge of HMSHost policies and products, service, quality, and operations standards.
