About the position

The General Manager I at Advance Auto Parts is a professional-level sales and management position responsible for inspiring the team, supporting customer success, and driving business growth with integrity. This role requires a strong understanding of store and automotive systems, parts knowledge, and the ability to manage customer relationships while achieving financial metrics and maintaining service standards. The position demands a commitment to working 50-55 hours per week, including nights and weekends, to meet the needs of the business.

Responsibilities

• Achieve overall store sales goals and service objectives
• Manage and grow Professional Customer relationships/sales
• Selection, hiring, development, performance management, coaching, scheduling, and engagement of store Team Members
• Ensure execution of all inventory and operational standards
• Coach all Team Members to deliver on Customer expectations (DIY and Professional)
• Manager on duty responsibilities including coaching, floor/phone management, task assignment and completion, safety, and open/close duties
• Lead change management initiatives
• Provide DIY service including battery installation and testing
• Assist District/Region in other functions upon request

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• 2-3 years of experience managing a team of 10-20 in a retail environment
• Valid driver's license
• ASE certification preferred
• Working knowledge of automotive systems
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; PowerPoint preferred
• Ability to analyze business reports, including P&L statements
• Strong financial and business acumen

• Spanish language skills
• Experience in a fast-paced retail environment
• Ability to become ASE P2 certified or ASE ready equivalent
