About the position

The General Manager I (GM) position at Starbucks, managed by HMSHost at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, is responsible for overseeing a quick-service restaurant or a small cluster of restaurants. The GM ensures operational excellence, staff management, and financial performance, with sales generally up to $5 million. This role requires strong leadership skills to maintain high standards of service, cleanliness, and employee engagement while driving profitability and compliance with company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Open and close the restaurant, ensuring all procedures are followed for a smooth operation.
  • Deploy staff and resources effectively to maximize profitability and accept P&L responsibility.
  • Provide consistent support, coaching, and encouragement to restaurant staff to achieve business goals.
  • Conduct interviews and make hiring, termination, and promotion decisions for associates.
  • Ensure compliance with the company's diversity and inclusion philosophy within the restaurant.
  • Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes for all restaurant associates.
  • Monitor financial and operational data to track progress towards unit goals.
  • Recognize and reward restaurant staff for their contributions and performance.
  • Ensure product availability and manage inventory levels effectively.
  • Maintain restaurant equipment and schedule routine service or repairs as needed.
  • Conduct training and education activities for restaurant associates to enhance their skills.
  • Implement marketing programs and promotional activities to drive revenue.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety standards and protocols.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of restaurant P&L management experience.
  • 5-7 years of overall working restaurant experience in similar roles.
  • Graduation from a Food Service Management or Culinary program may substitute for some experience.
  • Demonstrated skills in team management, delegation, and issue resolution.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Knowledge of HMSHost policies, products, and operational standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in managing QSR, Casual Dine, or Full Service restaurants.
  • Familiarity with management information systems and tools like MIV, Crunch Time, and Kronos.
