About the position

The General Manager I (GM) position at HMSHost is responsible for managing a Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) or a small cluster of restaurants, ensuring high operational and financial standards are met. The GM oversees staffing, training, and daily operations, while also being accountable for the restaurant's profitability and employee engagement. This role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to make strategic decisions to drive the success of the restaurant.

Responsibilities

• Open and close the restaurant, ensuring all checklists are completed.
• Deploy staff and resources to maximize profitability and accept P&L responsibility.
• Assign work tasks, prepare schedules, and ensure all shifts are covered.
• Provide coaching and support to restaurant staff to achieve business goals.
• Conduct interviews and make hiring, termination, and promotion decisions for associates.
• Promote HMSHost as an employer of choice within the community.
• Ensure compliance with onboarding and offboarding processes for all associates.
• Monitor financial and operational data to meet unit goals and objectives.
• Recognize and reward restaurant staff for their contributions and performance.
• Ensure product availability and oversee supply chain issues.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of restaurant P&L management experience.
• 5-7 years of overall working restaurant experience in similar complexity roles.
• Graduation from a Food Service Management or Culinary program may substitute for some experience.
• Demonstrated skills in team management, delegation, and issue resolution.
• Ability to speak, read, and comprehend instructions and policy documents.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in managing casual dining or full-service restaurants.
