About the position

The General Manager II at Advance Auto Parts is a professional-level sales and management position responsible for inspiring the team, fostering customer success, and driving business growth with integrity. This role requires a deep understanding of store and automotive systems, parts knowledge, and the ability to manage customer relationships effectively. The General Manager is accountable for achieving financial metrics while maintaining service and appearance standards, working a minimum of 50-55 hours per week, including rotating nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve overall store sales goals and service objectives
  • Manage and grow Professional Customer relationships/sales
  • Selection, hiring, development, performance management, coaching, scheduling, and engagement of store Team Members
  • Ensure execution of all inventory and operational standards
  • Coach all Team Members to deliver on Customer expectations (DIY and Professional)
  • Manager on duty responsibilities including coaching, floor/phone management, task assignment and completion, safety, open/close duties
  • Lead change management
  • Provide DIY service including battery installation, testing, wiper install, etc.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience managing a team of 10 - 20 Team Members in a fast-paced retail environment
  • High school diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree in business or a related area preferred
  • Valid driver's license
  • Working knowledge of automotive systems preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (Spanish a plus)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; PowerPoint preferred
  • Ability to review and analyze business reports, such as profit and loss statements (P&L)

Nice-to-haves

  • ASE certification preferred, but not required
  • Ability to become ASE P2 certified or ASE ready equivalent
  • Experience in a retail environment with a focus on customer service
