About the position

The General Manager is responsible for achieving overall store sales goals and service objectives while managing and developing a team of store members. This role involves building professional customer relationships, ensuring operational standards are met, and leading change management initiatives. The General Manager will also provide DIY services and assist in various functions as needed, fostering a respectful and diverse environment for both customers and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve overall store sales goals and service objectives
  • Manage and grow professional customer relationships and sales
  • Selection, hiring, development, performance management, coaching, scheduling, and engagement of store team members
  • Ensure execution of all inventory and operational standards
  • Coach all team members to deliver on customer expectations
  • Manager on duty responsibilities including coaching, floor/phone management, task assignment, and safety duties
  • Lead change management initiatives
  • Provide DIY services including battery installation and testing
  • Assist District/Region in other functions upon request

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience managing a team of 10-20 team members in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Working knowledge of automotive systems preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (Spanish a plus)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; PowerPoint preferred
  • Ability to calculate figures such as discounts and sales increases
  • Experience managing profitability and proven financial acumen
  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • ASE certification preferred, but not required

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to become ASE P2 certified or ASE ready equivalent
  • Ability to execute and train project and product quality recommendations
  • Advanced parts lookup and sourcing skills
  • Ability to review and analyze P&L statements
  • Ability to build and grow relationships with professional customers
