About the position

The General Manager at Building More Futures is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of group homes that provide support services for individuals with disabilities. This role focuses on ensuring high-quality care for residents, managing staff, and maintaining compliance with regulations. The General Manager plays a crucial role in creating a positive environment for both residents and staff, while also handling administrative tasks and communication with external parties.

Responsibilities

  • Establish or implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, or procedures in conjunction with board members, organization officials, or staff members.
  • Monitor suppliers to ensure that they efficiently and effectively provide needed goods or services within budgetary limits.
  • Manage the movement of goods into and out of group homes to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, or sustainability of operations.
  • Follow up with financial documents and items pertaining to each group home.
  • Remain up to date with all APD regulations, in addition to being PCM certified.
  • Ensure all client personal and medical records are complete and up to date.
  • Follow up with direct support employees and group home managers with any incident reports.
  • Prepare staff work schedules and assign specific duties.
  • Communicate with family members, doctors, and outside agencies to provide updates on clients or to respond to any questions or concerns.
  • Ensure clear and concise communication channels are established between support staff, home managers, and any family members, doctors, and outside agencies.
  • Plan and coordinate events and recreational activities.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings, performance evaluations, and provide ongoing coaching and development.
  • Be available on-call, respond to emergencies or other situations outside normal working hours.
  • Perform light housekeeping, laundry, and meal preparation.
  • Ensure behavioral plans are implemented and positive progress is maintained per client.
  • Work hand in hand with the compliance officer to ensure all group homes meet compliance conditions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human sciences or equivalent experience.
  • 8 years of work experience in a related field.
  • Valid driver's license with no suspensions for the past 3 years.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Technologically adept.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
