About the position

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) at Bloomingdale's is a preparatory role for the General Manager position, focusing on leadership and operational excellence within the store. The AGM partners with the General Manager to oversee store operations, drive sales, enhance customer experience, and develop future leaders. Responsibilities

  • Deliver performance metrics to plan in store, including Sales, Net Promoter Score, and Client Sales.
  • Partner with Operations leadership to manage store-controlled elements of profit and loss.
  • Analyze data to identify and capitalize on key business opportunities with trade area leadership.
  • Cultivate a customer-centric store culture and advocate for improvements to enhance the in-store experience.
  • Model outstanding customer care and lead the execution of top customer strategies.
  • Execute merchant strategies with appropriate localization for the store customer.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with store, trade area, and central business partners.
  • Set clear expectations for leadership behavior and empower others to make decisions.
  • Act as an active coach, providing ongoing feedback and guidance to the team.
  • Develop a strong bench of managers for future leadership positions.
  • Communicate priorities and business-driving information to ensure alignment among leadership.
  • Champion the use of selling technology to support a seamless customer experience.
  • Drive store associate engagement by building diverse and inclusive teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field.
  • 5+ years of direct experience in retail management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Strong critical thinking and strategic mindset.
  • Proven ability to implement multifaceted retail strategies that drive business outcomes.
  • Strong leadership profile and customer service orientation.
