About the position

The General Manager at JW Marriott Chicago serves as the primary strategic business leader of the property, overseeing all operational aspects including guest and employee satisfaction, financial performance, and sales. This role is crucial in ensuring the implementation of Marriott's brand service strategy, guiding the leadership team, and fostering strong relationships with property owners and the local community. The General Manager is responsible for maximizing profitability and market share while maintaining high standards of service and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of property operations including guest and employee satisfaction, financial performance, and sales.
  • Implement Marriott brand service strategy and initiatives to meet or exceed guest expectations.
  • Hold property leadership team accountable for strategy execution and guide their professional development.
  • Leverage Marriott International sales engines and initiate independent sales activities to generate demand.
  • Build owner loyalty through proactive communication and managing expectations.
  • Engage with the local community and build relationships with local officials and businesses.
  • Develop and execute business plans to maximize customer satisfaction and profitability.
  • Work closely with Sales and Marketing to develop revenue-generating strategies.
  • Create a high-performance Executive Committee and coach them for positive results.
  • Analyze business data to inform future business strategies and improve performance.

Requirements

  • 2-year degree in Business Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major with 8 years of relevant experience; or a 4-year bachelor's degree with 6 years of experience.
  • General Manager experience in limited or full-service property preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
  • Demonstrated progressive career growth in the property industry.

Nice-to-haves
