About the position

The General Manager in Building Materials is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and strategic planning of the company. This role is crucial within the Senior Leadership team, focusing on sales, operations, and management to drive company culture and values. The General Manager empowers team members to enhance performance and efficiency while ensuring high-quality service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and hold department accountabilities
  • Develop and execute business plan including sales and GM dollars to budget
  • Manage capital expenditure planning and management
  • Oversee inventory management including inventory turns, cycle counts, and replenishment
  • Control operations costs including equipment and labor costs, truck turnaround time, and equipment utilization
  • Promote a safety culture within the organization

Requirements

  • Strong business acumen and leadership experience
  • Experience managing multiple areas of a company
  • Background in lean principles
  • Experience in building materials, lumber yard, or residential building outside sales
