About the position

The General Manager, Parcel Solutions, is responsible for overseeing the operations of a high-volume automated small package sort center. This role ensures compliance with operational processes and safety procedures while leading a large team to meet productivity and quality goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a staff of 300+ internal and contingent employees, including hiring, terminations, coaching, and performance management.
  • Plan, organize, and control day-to-day operations of the sort center to meet safety, quality, and service standards.
  • Ensure compliance with operational processes and safety procedures to meet on-time and error-free sort guidelines.
  • Oversee daily visual inspections of loads to ensure proper quality for customers and vendors.
  • Plan sort strategy based on projected volume and other factors.
  • Monitor location and timing of line hauls, making critical decisions regarding unloading, sorting, and reloading.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to facilitate enhancements to building capabilities.
  • Work with maintenance teams to ensure proper servicing of equipment.
  • Create and implement best practices to drive efficiency and accuracy in sort operations.

Requirements

  • GED or Diploma is required; a bachelor's degree in business, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience leading a large facility of 300+ total headcount.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of people management experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing or sortation industry.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build professional rapport and lead a diverse team.
  • Ability to inspire a shared vision and motivate a team.
  • Proven ability to apply sound business judgment to establish and accomplish goals.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for various audiences.
  • Ability to understand and operate automated sort systems.
  • Understanding of P&L and ability to manage costs of facility, personnel, supplies, and equipment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with common supply chain and logistics software preferred, such as Advatix®.
  • Customer service skills necessary to respond effectively to requests and issues.
