About the position

The General Manager Production Ham Plant at Tyson Foods, Inc. in Madison, NE is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant production. This position is crucial for maximizing both long-term and short-term profitability of the Madison Ham Plant. The General Manager will work closely with team members to foster strong working relationships and maintain high morale within the workforce. This includes performing various administrative duties to ensure that production objectives are met efficiently and effectively. In this role, the General Manager will lead the production team in creating a work environment that emphasizes employee safety, product quality, food safety, and positive employee relations. Utilizing Lean and Continuous Improvement techniques, the General Manager will embody the company's values and behaviors in action. Effective communication with team members regarding project timelines and immediate tasks is essential to ensure smooth operations. Compliance with all quality and food safety requirements is a critical responsibility, as it protects customers, consumers, and the Tyson Foods brand. This includes adhering to all state and federal regulations. The General Manager will also be tasked with developing and training team members, holding monthly safety meetings, and facilitating group discussions to address any production-related issues. Additional responsibilities include compiling figures and reporting on key production KPIs, handling team member grievances, and performing other duties as necessary to support the plant's operations. This role reports directly to the plant manager, making it integral to the overall success of the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, control, and coordinate all aspects of plant production to maximize profitability.
  • Develop good working relationships and maintain high morale among team members.
  • Perform administrative duties to ensure production objectives are met.
  • Lead the production team to create a safe and quality-focused work environment.
  • Communicate project timelines and immediate tasks to team members.
  • Ensure compliance with quality and food safety requirements, including state and federal regulations.
  • Develop and train team members, holding monthly safety meetings and group discussions.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and handle team member grievances.
  • Compile figures and report on key production KPIs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of related experience in a food manufacturing plant, with a strong preference for food manufacturing experience.
  • Essential understanding and control of production processes, safety, maintenance, shipping & receiving, sanitation, quality assurance, accounting, human resources, and material management.
  • Standard computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and SAP knowledge.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound judgment, decision-making, leadership, and organizational skills.
