About the position

The Retail General Manager (RGM) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the retail store, including production activities and the retail selling floor. This role focuses on customer service, inventory management, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. The RGM is tasked with defining roles and responsibilities for direct reports, providing training, and maintaining high performance through effective communication and feedback.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of the retail store, including production and sales activities.
• Oversee inventory levels and ensure quality of merchandise on the sales floor.
• Monitor the flow of donations and ensure compliance with safety and state laws.
• Maintain staffing levels and manage hiring, training, and separation of employees.
• Perform timely reporting requirements including production and sales reports.
• Review profit and loss statements and adjust operations accordingly.
• Ensure daily banking requirements are met and manage payroll submissions.
• Set and manage staff schedules to meet store needs effectively.
• Create an exceptional customer service atmosphere and resolve customer complaints.
• Comply with and enforce company policies and standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Two to three years of progressive retail management experience supervising multiple departments.
• Minimum of five years' experience in retail or equivalent industry.
• Experience in selecting, assessing, coaching, and developing associates in a retail environment.
• Full P&L ownership experience.
• Proficiency in scheduling and managing store staff.
• Effective communication skills in English, both orally and in writing.
• Basic math and computer skills.
