About the position

The General Manager at WeDriveU is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of college/university transportation services, managing team members, and executing strategic account plans. This role requires strong leadership, decision-making skills, and the ability to monitor performance effectively. The General Manager will serve as the primary contact for clients and ensure compliance with company policies while fostering positive relationships within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily activities of all drivers and oversee the development and implementation of standard operating procedures.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, attending meetings and conference calls as needed.
  • Ensure the local team builds strong and effective partnerships.
  • Make logistical coverage/staffing decisions and communicate them effectively to the team.
  • Hire, train, and develop staff including Drivers, Operations Manager, Dispatchers, Maintenance, and Safety Manager.
  • Collaborate with company leaders to create an operating plan that supports overall business strategies.
  • Maintain positive relationships with the local team to ensure employee retention.
  • Implement company values and goals while ensuring compliance with all policies.
  • Review budgets and develop short- and long-term business operating plans to increase revenues and margins.
  • Report and follow up on maintenance issues with vendors.
  • Review documentation to ensure all required onsite records and inspections are complete and accurate.
  • Identify safety issues and promote safety awareness among staff.
  • Conduct work area inspections and assist in accident/injury investigations.
  • Analyze ridership numbers and suggest route changes accordingly.
  • Regularly attend client meetings and respond to feedback from clients and their employees.
  • Deliver overall performance and results for the CSC.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of management and supervisory experience in a public transit or related industry.
  • Experience in the management and operations of college/university transit and transportation.
  • Work experience in public or private alternative transportation demand management (TDM).
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to assess risk and resolve customer issues effectively.
  • Knowledge of company services, capabilities, policies, and procedures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in business management or equivalent.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Licensed Class B driver with Passenger and Air brakes endorsements.
  • Bilingual abilities.
