About the position

The General Manager of Sales & Marketing is responsible for managing and directing the execution of sales and marketing plans and initiatives. This role encompasses overseeing all sales and marketing activities, ensuring alignment with organizational strategies and objectives, and leading a team to achieve sales goals while maintaining budgetary constraints.

Responsibilities

  • Develops annual sales and marketing plan in support of organizational strategy and objectives.
  • Directs implementation and execution of sales and marketing policies and practices.
  • Ensures sales and marketing communications are coordinated, support objectives and meet organizational expenditure requirements.
  • Recommends sales strategies for improvement based on market research and competitor analyses.
  • Manages multiple channel selling strategies.
  • Provides leadership in the development of joint ventures, affiliations and partnership arrangements.
  • Provides leadership and support for the design, development and implementation of products and service lines.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining budget.
  • Oversees and directs market research, competitor analyses and customer service and retention monitoring processes and initiatives.
  • Builds, develops and manages sales and marketing team capable of carrying out needed sales and service initiatives.
  • Develop staff in both technical and professional skills through performance management (coaching, counseling, discipline, training, annual formal performance evaluations, recognition, etc.).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Outstanding knowledge to manage and lead the company with proper strategy.
  • Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions and constraints.
  • Conversational to Fluent language skills in Japanese and English preferred.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Ability to adapt and be productive in a fast-paced and demanding environment where priorities are constantly changing.
  • Proficient in MS Office, specifically with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Appropriate knowledge of the company's products, customers and transactions (or ability to learn within a limited amount of time).
  • Understanding of international trade.
  • Willingness to continually learn and study federal/state/international laws and other issues pertaining to the position's activities.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
  • Must have valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of Japanese business culture.
