About the position

The General Manager at Goldfish Swim School is responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring quality and success in various areas including staffing, pool operations, cash management, customer service, and retail. This role emphasizes a commitment to teaching children how to swim safely while fostering a positive work environment for employees. The General Manager will lead a team, manage operations, and implement safety protocols, all while promoting the Goldfish brand and its mission.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and controls the daily operations to ensure the school is running per GSS standard operating procedures.
  • Manages the staff of GSS to ensure high productivity, excellent performance and positive employee satisfaction.
  • Trains and manages the aquatics department to provide superior swim instruction to the students of GSS.
  • Interacts with Deck Supervisors on issues related to class scheduling, student progress, customer service and employee performance and training.
  • Provides sales and marketing training for all qualified sales staff.
  • Manages retail and vending department; inventory control, ensuring a proper mix of products and pricing is achieved.
  • Trains and oversees private party staff to ensure that GSS standard operating procedures are maintained.
  • Gains knowledge and experience of scheduling software to achieve a high level of competence in bookings, class scheduling, reporting and administrative functions.
  • Gains a high level of knowledge and experience in GSS pool operations necessary to maintain a safe and sanitary swimming environment.
  • Initiates and oversees workplace employee activities with the goal of achieving improved employee satisfaction.
  • Directs and oversees the implementation of the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and all safety procedures that pertain to the GSS facility.
  • Maintains current certifications and stays up-to-date professionally in the aquatics and management field.
  • Schedules staff and approves timesheets for Regional Manager to manage payroll.
  • Promotes special events and marketing of the Goldfish brand.
  • Collaborates frequently with Regional Manager in various operational aspects across all SC schools.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekdays, evenings, and weekends.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, communications or equivalent is desired.
  • Experience as youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor or aquatics instructor/supervisor is preferred.
  • Three to five years management experience is preferred.
  • Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in sales and marketing training.
  • Knowledge of scheduling software and pool operations.
