About the position

The General Manager - Spare Parts Operations is responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of Dematic's Parts Distribution Center, ensuring efficient processes to support the growing Spare Parts business. This role focuses on customer satisfaction through effective order management and material handling, while also implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Manage operational throughput of the Parts Distribution Center, including receiving, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory control.
  • Ensure a safe work environment through the identification and implementation of safety program improvements.
  • Implement continuous improvement and process efficiency gains in the Parts Distribution Center as measured by SQDCP metrics (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People).
  • Build and implement plans to expand operations, ensuring sufficient capacity to support future growth of Spare Parts business at the lowest cost.
  • Provide excellence in customer service for Spare Parts customers, including order handling, follow-ups, inquiries, and objection handling.
  • Liaise with the Spare Parts materials management function to ensure adequate stocking strategies while reducing obsolescence of parts.
  • Apply standard methodologies to improve processes, tools, reporting, and analyzing operational efficiencies and customer satisfaction.
  • Mentor and guide leaders to develop performance measurement systems and critical metrics that align with the goals and objectives of the Spare Parts business.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science in engineering, business, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • 8+ years' confirmed experience in operations, process improvement, and/or general management with demonstrated ability to lead complex teams and processes.
  • Lean Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement qualifications are preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, collaboration, influencing, mentoring, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Intellectually curious with excellent analytical, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective interpersonal skills including proven stand-up presentation skills and group facilitation.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively in a team-based organization with employees of all levels and backgrounds.
  • Change agent with the ability to lead and influence in the face of ambiguity and complexity.
  • Demonstrated ability in leading and building a successful continuous improvement culture in a large multinational organization.
