About the position

The General Manager at Sonic Drive-In is responsible for leading the restaurant team to deliver exceptional food service experiences. This role involves managing staff, ensuring operational standards are met, and maintaining a focus on customer service. The General Manager will oversee training, inventory management, and financial reporting while fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manages, trains, monitors, and coaches team members.
  • Directs and assigns employees to ensure all aspects of food service meet operational standards.
  • Adheres to and monitors employee compliance with policies and practices.
  • Performs restaurant opening and/or closing duties.
  • Prepares work schedules; monitors and adjusts staffing levels based on business needs.
  • Monitors and maintains restaurant inventory levels; places orders for food, paper, and other supplies within cost control procedures.
  • Completes and maintains all drive-in restaurant employment-related records and payroll records.
  • Reinforces a customer service mentality and ensures all employees are focused on guest service.
  • Immediately and respectfully resolves guest requests; keeps Area Supervisor apprised of issues.
  • Interviews and hires restaurant crew and management team members to achieve proper staffing levels.
  • Prepares all necessary operational reports; develops appropriate action plans to resolve unfavorable financial and/or sales trends.
  • Develops and implements a marketing plan.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced studies in business or restaurant management preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of restaurant management experience (QSR preferred), experience running shifts without supervision.
  • Required to work a 50-hour work week that includes irregular hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, and selection practices.
  • Knowledge of federal and state labor laws as well as local health and sanitation laws and regulations.
  • Leadership and supervisory practices and skills; effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic accounting and computer skills.
  • Ability to follow directions, work with autonomy, and multi-task.
  • Problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Willingness to abide by the appearance, uniform, and hygiene standards at SONIC.

  • Operational bonus potential up to $15K per year.
  • Regularly scheduled overtime at 1.5x hourly rate.
