About the position

The General Manager at Denny's is responsible for overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations, ensuring high levels of guest satisfaction, managing staff, and achieving financial goals. This role requires a strong commitment to hospitality and adherence to Denny's Guiding Principles, focusing on employee development, operational excellence, and community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all restaurant managers and employees prioritize guest satisfaction and create a respectful environment.
  • Attract, hire, develop, coach, and retain restaurant managers and hourly employees to build a high-performing team.
  • Direct restaurant operations to meet Denny's brand standards for food and facilities.
  • Drive sales, guest count, and profit through local marketing initiatives and community relationships.
  • Analyze financial and operational reports to identify performance gaps and develop solutions.
  • Monitor security procedures to protect guests, employees, and company assets.
  • Ensure compliance with Denny's employment policies and relevant regulations.
  • Proactively address and resolve problems, including customer complaints and employee relations issues.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in restaurant, hospitality, or retail management.
  • Food Safety Manager certification required.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Proven ability to problem solve and handle high-stress situations.
  • Ability to interpret financial statements and understand contributing factors.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Additional operations and/or leadership experience strongly preferred.
