About the position

The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the safety, compliance, and operational performance of a Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facility (TSDF) location. This role involves ensuring adherence to state and federal regulations, managing financial results, and leading facility staff to achieve operational goals. The General Manager collaborates with various departments to maintain regulatory compliance, drive revenue growth, and foster a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assign work to production crew and supervise their activities throughout the shift.
  • Audit crew's performance for quality, quantity, safety conformance, and resource utilization.
  • Manage staff, including hiring, firing, and development in accordance with HR policies.
  • Monitor production schedules and coordinate work between shifts.
  • Ensure adequate personnel and resources are available to support core values.
  • Review procedures and records for compliance with regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Enforce safety rules and practices to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Oversee plant safety committee and conduct crew safety meetings.
  • Assist in training programs by providing on-the-job training and instruction.
  • Respond to plant emergencies and perform emergency response procedures.
  • Develop waste profile sheets for in-plant generated wastes.
  • Coordinate outgoing loads and ensure compliance with operational procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or biosciences (Chemistry/Environmental science) or equivalent work experience.
  • Five or more years of experience in the hazardous waste industry or related field.
  • Three or more years of experience managing an operations team.
  • Effective management skills including leadership and motivation.
  • General knowledge of RCRA and DOT Regulations related to waste transportation and processing.
  • Advanced knowledge of math and science with an emphasis on Chemistry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
