About the position

The General Manager at Goldfish Swim School is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the swim school, ensuring high-quality service and safety standards are met. This role involves managing staff, training employees, and maintaining a positive workplace culture while also engaging with customers and students. The General Manager plays a crucial role in the success of the school by directing operations, managing financial responsibilities, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Directs and controls daily operations to ensure compliance with GSS standard operating procedures.
• Manages staff to ensure high productivity and positive employee satisfaction.
• Trains and oversees staff to provide superior swim instruction and customer service.
• Interacts with staff on class scheduling, student progress, and employee performance.
• Provides sales and marketing training to qualified sales staff.
• Oversees retail and vending departments to ensure proper product mix and pricing.
• Trains private party staff to maintain GSS standard operating procedures.
• Gains knowledge in technology for customer maintenance and class scheduling.
• Maintains a safe and sanitary swim environment through pool operations knowledge.
• Manages financial responsibilities including cash deposits and budgeting.
• Implements the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and safety procedures.
• Schedules staff and manages payroll.
• Works one shift per week as a lifeguard/swim instructor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in business administration or communications preferred.
• 3-5 years of management experience preferred.
• Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Certified Pool Operator certifications required or to be obtained within 90 days of start date.
• Experience as a youth sports instructor, camp counselor, or aquatics instructor/supervisor preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves
