About the position

The General Manager at Margaritaville Cleveland is responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the venue, ensuring efficient and profitable management of all profit centers, including merchandise and bar services. This role involves direct supervision of the management team, maintaining high standards of service, and coordinating day-to-day operations to meet financial and quality standards. The General Manager is also tasked with developing initiatives to enhance sales and guest retention while ensuring staff satisfaction and compliance with company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the overall operation of the venue and all profit centers.
  • Supervise the management team and perform various operational duties.
  • Ensure the highest quality product reaches guests and meets specifications.
  • Maintain productivity and quality standards in service and sanitation.
  • Coordinate day-to-day operations including financial forecasting, recruiting, and marketing.
  • Develop initiatives to build sales, profitability, and guest retention.
  • Manage nightly cash outs and closing duties of staff members.
  • Control labor and assign duties to managers and staff members.
  • Conduct performance reviews for salaried and hourly staff.
  • Ensure accurate completion of staff schedules based on business volume.
  • Anticipate and recommend employment needs.
  • Provide leadership and support to staff members through effective communication.
  • Conduct regular staff quality circle meetings.
  • Ensure overall guest and staff member satisfaction.
  • Maintain proper ordering procedures to manage product levels.
  • Understand and manage Profit & Loss for the venue.
  • Maintain staff member files for accuracy and completeness.
  • Establish rapport with guests through name recognition and communication.
  • Adhere to responsible alcohol service and safety practices.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years experience in a high volume Food and Beverage outlet in a General Manager position or equivalent education and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with other departments and outside contacts.
  • Ability to handle a heavy workload and multitask in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred or Associate's degree in a related field.
  • Health permit/food safety and Alcohol Awareness certification required.
