About the position

The General Manager at Swensons Drive-in Restaurants is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant, ensuring high-quality service and food safety standards. This role involves managing and training staff, handling financial reports, and maintaining compliance with company policies and regulations. The General Manager plays a crucial role in fostering a positive work environment and driving operational excellence while also focusing on employee development and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, train, monitor, and coach kitchen crew members, curb servers, kitchen supervisors, and Assistant General Managers.
  • Direct crew, assign duties, and ensure quick and friendly service to customers and internal team members.
  • Manage shifts, including daily decision-making, scheduling, and performing restaurant opening and closing duties.
  • Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and kitchen equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, and federal/state/local laws.
  • Monitor and maintain profit and loss management by following cash handling and security procedures, maintaining inventory, and reviewing financial reports.
  • Inspire and coach staff to drive excellence around core operations procedures during shifts.
  • Identify and develop employees by providing ongoing feedback and conducting performance reviews.
  • Prepare schedules and ensure the restaurant is staffed for all shifts.
  • Assist the District Manager with any additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of coaching, training, and development experience in a high-volume food service management role.
  • 1-2 years experience as a restaurant General Manager at a high-volume level.
  • Legal right to work in the United States and provide proof.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for work purposes.
  • Good oral/written communication skills in the primary language of the work location.
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Positive, energetic attitude with the ability to work on your feet for the entire shift in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic math skills and basic computer literacy.
