About the position

The Studio Manager at Waxing the City in Raleigh, NC, is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations of the studio, ensuring a high-quality guest experience, and leading a team of waxing specialists and coordinators. This role requires a passionate leader who can drive business success while fostering a positive and engaging work environment. The Studio Manager will be instrumental in recruiting, training, and developing staff, managing inventory, and implementing marketing strategies to enhance studio performance and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the recruiting, hiring, and onboarding process for all studio positions.
  • Engage, challenge, develop, and retain team members to help them realize their full potential.
  • Build and manage schedules and time off requests for the team.
  • Provide regular coaching, training, and development for all team members.
  • Implement and maintain effective communication structures, including daily huddles and monthly team meetings.
  • Manage the client experience to deliver superior wax services and a personable experience.
  • Perform studio coordinator duties for 15-20 hours per week.
  • Follow up on client issues within 24 hours and coach the team for improvement.
  • Ensure the studio is clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to brand standards.
  • Maintain accurate retail and supply inventory for operations.
  • Monitor safety for all individuals within the facility.
  • Recognize and communicate opportunities for process improvement.
  • Assist in planning and implementing ongoing process improvements.
  • Review studio results regularly to identify opportunities for business improvement.
  • Lead marketing and community engagement events and manage studio social media platforms.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a leadership position responsible for direct management of others.
  • Excellent leadership, team engagement, and guest care skills.
  • Business operations experience including inventory, budget management, and scheduling.
  • Ability to work independently and make thoughtful business decisions.
  • Comfortable dealing with uncertainty and creating structure in a dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Strong marketing, social media, and sales background.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years management and marketing experience in a retail or service business.
  • Experience in the salon, spa, or waxing industry.
