About the position

The General Manager at Sitzmark Vail is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the hotel, ensuring exceptional hospitality and a memorable experience for guests. This role involves overseeing daily operations, managing staff, implementing pricing strategies, and handling financial oversight to drive the hotel's success and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, and develop a motivated team to deliver exceptional guest service.
  • Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts while optimizing labor costs.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to staff.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for guest feedback and concerns, resolving complaints promptly.
  • Develop and implement pricing strategies that maximize room revenue and occupancy rates.
  • Design and execute promotional offers and packages to attract different segments of travelers.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports to forecast future revenue and make informed pricing decisions.
  • Manage and optimize the hotel's presence on various online booking platforms.
  • Monitor and adjust room inventory across all distribution channels to prevent overbooking.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget for the hotel, including revenue projections and operating expenses.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and provide regular financial updates to ownership.
  • Oversee and control all hotel expenses, implementing cost-saving measures as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in hotel management or a similar role.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in pricing and revenue management.
  • Proficient in or willing to learn hotel management software, channel management platforms, and accounting systems.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Conversational Spanish is a plus.
