About the position

The General Manager at Panera Bread is responsible for leading a bakery-cafe team to success by ensuring extraordinary guest experiences, managing operations, and fostering a culture of warmth, belonging, growth, and trust. This role involves accountability for the cafe's performance, team development, and adherence to company standards, while also driving sales and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Build our culture of Warmth, Belonging, Growth, and Trust.
  • Ensure extraordinary guest experiences.
  • Build customer relationships that lead to long-term, loyal patrons.
  • Own all aspects of leading, managing, and developing your team.
  • Plan and manage staffing needs, shift scheduling, and people development.
  • Lead ongoing training, coaching, and creative problem solving.
  • Hire and train new team members, keeping the team motivated and engaged.
  • Manage team performance to meet cafe goals and quality standards.
  • Coach managers and associates to build subject matter experts within the cafe.
  • Recognize and celebrate individual and team achievements.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality operations and service.
  • Motivate your team to meet and exceed cafe goals.
  • Adhere to cafe systems and processes for day-to-day operations.
  • Follow company policies and comply with regulations.
  • Ensure food safety standards are maintained.
  • Create a healthy and safe workplace for your team.
  • Grow sales and maximize profitability.
  • Manage associate labor to support cafe profitability.
  • Maintain cafe costs and inventory.

Requirements

  • Three years management experience (preferred)
  • Proven ability to direct, motivate, coach, and develop others in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to drive positive results
  • Proven ability to run great shifts
  • Demonstrated understanding of the business
  • ServSafe certification
  • At least 18 years of age

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the hospitality industry
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
