About the position

The General Manager at Old School Bagel Cafe is responsible for overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations, including people management, financial management, operations management, and business development. This role requires a strong leader who can motivate and empower the team while ensuring a safe and efficient work environment. The General Manager will also engage with the local community to enhance the restaurant's image and customer experience.

Responsibilities

• Own staffing in the restaurant by providing timely feedback on interviews to the management team.
• Monitor the selection process and ensure all managers are fulfilling their roles.
• Ensure the restaurant environment is safe for both team members and guests.
• Oversee the correct facilitation of the orientation process and monitor manager development and performance plans.
• Make final hiring and separation decisions for the restaurant and ensure proper procedures are followed.
• Create or approve management and team member schedules to ensure proper staffing levels.
• Audit all facets of operations, deliver feedback, and develop solutions for improvements.
• Have a complete understanding of budget and cost trends that impact operations.
• Create a business plan and perform financial analysis.
• Control cash, property, product, and equipment; build sales and control labor and food costs.
• Maintain restaurant cleanliness and image; identify and communicate maintenance problems.
• Use company tools to coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing restaurant team.
• Represent Old School Bagel in the local community and develop local marketing programs.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of previous food service, retail, or restaurant supervisory experience.
• Knowledge and skills in analyzing profit and loss statements and overall financial performance of the restaurant.
• Knowledge of Labor Laws and staffing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and able to adapt to new systems quickly.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and empower teams to higher levels of performance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
