About the position

The General Manager (GM) at Songwriters Texas LLC is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of the business. This position requires a dynamic individual who is passionate about driving business growth, enhancing customer satisfaction, and leading a team towards excellence. The GM will ensure compliance with quality and safety standards, manage staff recruitment and development, and oversee financial planning and inventory management, all while creating a memorable experience for patrons.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily business operations, including maintaining necessary licenses, negotiating with suppliers, inventory management, financial planning, and goal setting.
  • Recruit, train, and manage staff to deliver outstanding customer service, ensuring the bar is adequately staffed during busy times.
  • Develop and implement staff schedules, resolve scheduling conflicts efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards, conduct regular staff evaluations, and provide coaching.
  • Manage all legal and regulatory documentation, ensuring the business complies with current laws.
  • Foster a positive work environment for a diverse team, effectively manage customer and staff interactions to maintain a harmonious atmosphere.
  • Organize and participate in promotional activities to enhance business visibility and patronage.
  • Handle difficult situations with patrons or staff decisively to maintain a safe, enjoyable environment.
  • Document and report any staff issues to senior management and relevant departments as necessary.
  • Commit to creating and maintaining a fun, secure setting for both patrons and employees.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma; higher education or additional qualifications in business management preferred.
  • At least 3 years of management experience in the restaurant/bar industry.
  • Proficient understanding of business and financial principles.
  • Strong computer literacy, problem-solving capabilities, and customer service orientation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage diverse personalities.
  • Proven ability to handle tense situations and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Availability to work during peak hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Demonstrated ability to delegate tasks and utilize resources efficiently.
  • Physical ability to navigate a fast-paced environment, including moving, standing, and occasionally lifting heavy objects.
  • Current certification from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) or equivalent as applicable.
