About the position

The General Manager (GM) position at HMSHost is responsible for overseeing the operations of a Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) or a small cluster of restaurants, ensuring they meet high operational and financial standards. The GM plays a crucial role in managing staff, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring the restaurant is open for business. This position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to make decisions that contribute to the overall success of the restaurant.

Responsibilities

  • Open and close the restaurant, ensuring all staff understand the importance of these processes.
  • Deploy staff and resources effectively to maximize profitability and accept P&L responsibility.
  • Provide consistent support, coaching, and encouragement to restaurant staff to achieve business goals.
  • Conduct interviews and make hiring, termination, and promotion decisions for associates.
  • Promote HMSHost as an employer of choice within the local community.
  • Ensure compliance with onboarding and offboarding processes for all restaurant associates.
  • Monitor financial and operational data to track progress towards unit goals and assign tasks accordingly.
  • Recognize and reward restaurant staff for their contributions and performance.
  • Ensure product availability and oversee inventory management and vendor relations.
  • Conduct training and development activities for restaurant associates to enhance their skills.
  • Implement marketing programs and comply with promotional activities to drive revenue.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of restaurant P&L management experience.
  • 5-7 years of overall working restaurant experience in QSR, Casual Dine, or Full Service environments.
  • Demonstrated skills in team management, delegation, and issue resolution.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Knowledge of HMSHost policies, products, and operational standards.
