About the position

As a General Manager at SONIC Drive-In, you will oversee and manage the daily operations of the Drive-In, ensuring quality food service in a clean, safe, and efficient manner. This role is crucial for providing an enjoyable experience for guests and involves accountability for all aspects of the Drive-In's operations.

Responsibilities

  • Hiring, training, managing, supervising, directing, and developing staff to provide a SuperSONIC experience.
  • Demonstrating a Fair, Firm, Fun leadership approach and leading by example.
  • Managing profit and loss statements to exceed expectations weekly, monthly, and yearly.
  • Resolving employee concerns thoughtfully and swiftly.
  • Celebrating team successes and coaching for improved performance.
  • Setting expectations and providing clear, continuous feedback to staff.
  • Creating a positive atmosphere during shifts to make work enjoyable.
  • Helping employees understand their roles and the bigger picture behind tasks.
  • Using metrics to evaluate Drive-In performance and implement necessary improvements.
  • Engaging with the community to grow sales and enhance brand presence.
  • Maintaining and enforcing SONIC safety and sanitation standards.
  • Complying with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Prior management experience in the restaurant or retail industry is preferred.
  • High standards for self and team performance.
  • Positive attitude, especially during busy or stressful times.
  • Resilience in trying different approaches to problem-solving.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow professionally and personally.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks effectively.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced studies in business or restaurant management preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of restaurant management experience, preferably in QSR.
  • Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, and selection practices.
  • Understanding of federal and state labor laws and local health regulations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic accounting and computer skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and work autonomously; capable of multi-tasking and problem-solving.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associates degree in Business or related field preferred.
