About the position

The General Manager will oversee all phases of the manufacturing departments at a prominent manufacturing facility in Tanner, AL. This role involves managing production, quality control, maintenance, receiving, and shipping operations while ensuring efficiency and adherence to established production schedules. The General Manager will also be responsible for developing budgets, maintaining quality standards, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement through Lean Six Sigma practices.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead all phases of the manufacturing departments including production, quality control, maintenance, receiving, and shipping.
• Review established production schedules to ensure inventory levels are met while operating efficiently.
• Develop and execute plant manufacturing budgets.
• Work closely with quality leaders to monitor product consistency and scrap rates for improvement.
• Maintain knowledge of existing manufacturing systems and processes.
• Build a culture of continuous improvement with an emphasis on Lean Six Sigma practices.
• Define and communicate performance expectations for staff and provide coaching and counseling.
• Directly supervise department managers and maximize improvement in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
• Responsible for Profit and Loss financial results and lead the Operations team to enhance accountability and employee engagement.
• Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• 4-year college degree required, preferably in a related field such as Engineering.
• 10+ years of manufacturing experience, including at least 5 years in a management role, with a strong engineering background preferred.
• Experience in directing the resolution of complex business problems across functions.
• Customer-focused with experience in negotiating and setting priorities with leadership.
• Experience in coaching, providing performance feedback, and development opportunities across multiple areas.
• Strong operating skills with the ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create concise presentations.
• Results-driven with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Trustworthy and able to influence others.
