About the position

The General Manager (GM) position at HMSHost is responsible for managing a Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) or a small cluster of restaurants, ensuring high operational and financial standards are met. The GM oversees staffing, training, and daily operations, while also being accountable for the restaurant's overall success and profitability. This role requires strong leadership skills, the ability to engage and motivate staff, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Open and close the restaurant, ensuring all staff understand the importance of these processes.
  • Deploy staff and resources effectively to maximize profitability and accept P&L responsibility.
  • Interview candidates and make hiring, termination, and promotion decisions for restaurant associates.
  • Promote HMSHost as an employer of choice within the local community.
  • Ensure compliance with company diversity and inclusion policies.
  • Monitor financial and operational data to meet unit goals and assign tasks accordingly.
  • Recognize and motivate restaurant staff for their contributions and performance.
  • Ensure product availability and oversee inventory management and vendor relations.
  • Conduct training and development activities for restaurant associates.
  • Implement marketing programs and drive revenue through promotional activities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of restaurant P&L management experience.
  • 5-7 years of overall working restaurant experience in QSR, Casual Dine, or Full Service environments.
  • Demonstrated skills in team management, delegation, and issue resolution.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Knowledge of HMSHost policies, products, and operational standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduation from a Food Service Management or Culinary program may substitute for experience requirements.
