About the position

The General Manager at FirstService Residential is responsible for overseeing the operations of a community association, ensuring compliance with governing documents, and maintaining strong relationships with the Board of Directors, residents, and vendors. This role involves managing staff, preparing budgets, presenting financial reports, and ensuring the community's systems and common areas are well-maintained. The General Manager plays a crucial role in fostering a positive community environment and ensuring adherence to regulations and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and accurate execution of Association business in accordance with governing documents and regulations.
  • Build strong relationships with the Board of Directors, committees, and residents.
  • Manage staff and vendor performance, ensuring compliance with service terms.
  • Prepare and present financial reports and budgets to the Board.
  • Attend and participate in Board and committee meetings, preparing minutes and agendas.
  • Inspect common areas and ensure necessary repairs and maintenance are conducted promptly.
  • Respond to homeowner inquiries and act as the point of contact for the Board of Directors.
  • Work with legal counsel on any pending or existing litigation and provide updates to the Board.
  • Administer the Annual Election and ensure CPA audits are completed on time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of successful high-profile community management experience or equivalent.
  • Strong user of Microsoft Office tools and excellent general math skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with active listening abilities.
  • Understanding of homeowner association rules, facility maintenance, and financial statements.

Nice-to-haves

  • CCAM, CMCA, or PCAM designation preferred but not required.
