About the position

The General Manager (GM) of Boston Cigar Club is responsible for the overall operation, management, and growth of the upscale cigar lounge. The GM will create a welcoming and luxurious environment for guests while overseeing special events, entertainment, and member services. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of cigars, liquor, and hospitality, along with exceptional leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, and mentor staff to ensure exceptional customer service and operational excellence.
  • Foster a positive and engaging work environment that motivates employees and enhances team performance.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and performance reviews to maintain high standards of service and accountability.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the cigar lounge, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
  • Maintain inventory levels of cigars, liquor, and other supplies, managing relationships with distributors.
  • Implement and enforce health and safety standards, as well as compliance with local regulations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the guest experience, focusing on personalization and service excellence.
  • Oversee the membership program, ensuring that members receive dedicated service and access to their cigars.
  • Address customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Plan and execute special events, including tastings, cigar rolling demonstrations, and themed nights to attract and engage customers.
  • Collaborate with local artists, musicians, and chefs to provide entertainment and enhance the lounge's ambiance.
  • Promote events through marketing channels, social media, and local partnerships.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring profitability while maintaining quality standards.
  • Analyze sales data and customer preferences to drive revenue growth and optimize inventory.
  • Prepare financial reports and forecasts for management review.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to attract new customers and retain existing members.
  • Build relationships with local businesses and organizations to enhance community presence and collaboration.
  • Engage with customers through social media and promotional materials to create brand loyalty.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a General Manager or in a similar role within the hospitality, cigar, or liquor industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of cigars, liquor, and related products.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficient in financial management and budgeting.
  • Passion for customer service and creating memorable experiences.
