About the position

The General Manager is responsible for managing and directing the overall operational and fiscal performance of the facility, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. This role involves overseeing all aspects of club operations, including relationships with management, the Board, members, guests, employees, and the community. The General Manager will develop and implement operational, marketing, and business plans, establish service standards, and ensure the execution of membership recruitment and retention strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct all key department operations including Agronomy, Golf Operations, Food and Beverage, Pool, Membership Sales and Marketing.
  • Create a high-performance team while maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Recruit, train, develop, and recognize employees of the facility.
  • Ensure proper accounting procedures including daily cash handling and deposits.
  • Monitor and evaluate financial performance relative to budget goals and objectives.
  • Generate systematic action plans and hold staff accountable for execution of improvement strategies.
  • Direct the development of the Club's annual business plan, marketing plan, and operating budget.
  • Develop recommendations for capital improvement strategies and conduct ROI analysis.
  • Ensure quality member service activities in all departments.
  • Maintain and secure the club's assets, including facilities and equipment.
  • Optimize profit while meeting market position goals.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, ownership, vendors, and management.
  • Administer employee evaluations and incentive programs.
  • Check course/weather conditions for playability and safety.
  • Oversee labor management in all departments to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
  • Conduct weekly Department Head meetings and individual meetings as needed.
  • Address safety issues immediately and conduct safety audits.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to all staff members.
  • Meet weekly with sales and operations managers to provide direction and gain market knowledge.

Requirements

  • Two or four-year college degree.
  • 5 or more years of experience in a similar role.
  • PGA or LPGA Certification is a positive but not required.

  • Experience in a similar role at a private club.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary between $80,000 - $90,000 per year.
