About the position

The General Manager at Joinery Hotel Pittsburgh is responsible for the overall management of the hotel, ensuring profitability, guest satisfaction, product quality, and maintenance of the property. This role involves strategic planning, budget management, and leading the Executive Committee to enhance operational efficiency and guest experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Executive Committee and coordinate departmental operations.
  • Develop and manage the annual operating budget to achieve financial goals.
  • Set quarterly objectives for department heads and ensure successful implementation.
  • Conduct monthly forecasting of staff and cost expenditures.
  • Review financial statements monthly to identify and correct issues.
  • Foster a positive work environment to reduce turnover and enhance employee morale.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and development plans for management staff.
  • Ensure compliance with wage and salary administration policies.
  • Review future business bookings and implement yield management practices.
  • Regularly inspect guest rooms and public areas to maintain high standards.
  • Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program for the property.
  • Create and monitor the annual sales and marketing plan.
  • Evaluate sales activities and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain credit policies and supervise collections of major accounts.
  • Maximize room revenue through effective front office management.
  • Represent the hotel in the local community and support community affairs.
  • Ensure full implementation of company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • A four-year college degree or equivalent education/experience.
  • Previous experience as General Manager or Assistant General Manager at a similar hotel.
  • Experience as a Department Head in the same facility.
  • Advanced knowledge of hospitality and business management.
  • Strong communication skills for negotiation and influence.
  • Ability to analyze complex information and develop new approaches.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a boutique hotel environment.
  • Familiarity with Hilton brand standards.
  • Proficiency in hotel management software.
