About the position

The General Manager at Southern Home Services is responsible for overseeing the sales, operations, and profit/loss of a high-volume HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical service business. This role requires a proven track record in achieving financial targets and managing business growth effectively. The General Manager will maintain customer relationships, hire and train staff, and foster a positive work environment while aligning the company's strategic objectives with operational execution.

Responsibilities

  • Create, communicate, and implement the mission and strategic direction of the organization.
  • Lead managers across various layers of the organization to align with strategic objectives.
  • Formulate and implement the company's strategic plan in collaboration with all levels of the organization.
  • Stay informed about the competitive landscape and market opportunities.
  • Guide the organization through change and explore innovative ideas and methods.
  • Evaluate organizational success using key strategic metrics and make necessary adjustments.
  • Manage and develop leadership staff, including hiring, scheduling, and evaluating performance.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to ensure timely decisions and effective communication.
  • Assess workload distribution to optimize manpower utilization and maximize profitability.
  • Ensure adherence to processes and procedures, maintaining compliance with safety and company regulations.
  • Assume full financial responsibility for the organization's operations.
  • Address customer escalation issues and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and recommend areas for improvement to enhance overall efficiency.

Requirements

  • 5 years of managerial experience with a proven track record of leading diverse teams.
  • Experience managing Profit and Loss statements, including budgeting and financial forecasting, with a minimum of 3 years in a similar role.
  • Successful track record in business-to-consumer sales within the home services sector.
  • Experience overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient service delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans to achieve company goals and drive business growth.
  • Skills in maintaining customer relationships and addressing escalated issues.
  • Experience in recruiting, training, and developing staff.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead through change, including business expansion and process improvements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using data to make informed decisions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Industry knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience using Service Titan is highly preferred.
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software experience is desirable.
