About the position

The General Manager will provide leadership and direction to the assigned operating location, ensuring the delivery of annual business plans and compliance with company policies and procedures. This role involves managing daily operations of the transportation contract, maintaining customer relations, overseeing staff training, and ensuring fleet availability and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage customer relations through both direct contact and outreach programs.
  • Identify, select, train and mentor location staff.
  • Effectively and frequently communicate with location staff and support team members.
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance plan and ensure fleet availability to meet service requirements.
  • Oversee safety and training programs to ensure compliance with company, contract, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain client contact routinely to meet or exceed expectations.
  • Conduct periodic departmental audits.
  • Review key operational metrics daily, weekly, and monthly.
  • Manage location financial metrics continuously and develop action plans for exceptions.
  • Implement, promote, and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Interact with the bridges committee to effectuate positive changes to policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Participate in location(s) labor and employee relations activities.
  • Provide insight and information to support location(s) contract renewals.
  • Create and present location(s) annual budget.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of comprehensive experience in operations management.
  • 7 years of management or supervisory experience in a transit environment.
  • Experience with labor/union negotiations and expenses.
  • Full understanding of dispatch, scheduling, driver recruitment, and safety DOT and FTA compliance.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in MS Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degree of multi-tasking skills.
  • College degree or equivalent business management experience.
