About the position

The General Manager at Fleet Farm is responsible for overseeing all aspects of retail store operations, focusing on driving profitability and excellence. This role involves leading a team, managing product assortment and inventory, analyzing sales performance, and ensuring superior customer service. The General Manager will also be involved in current and future store development projects, making it a dynamic and challenging position within a growing Midwest retailer.

Responsibilities

• Train, coach, and mentor the leadership team to develop consistent and Best in Class execution.
• Oversee the development and execution of individual development plans for each of their direct and indirect reports.
• Ensure that all store areas are staffed according to budget and maximized for customer needs.
• Hire, train, develop, and manage the performance of all Team Members in conjunction with the leadership team.
• Monitor store wage and expense control programs, identify budget variances, and take corrective action where necessary.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and guidelines regarding customer service, safety, loss prevention, and inventory management.
• Manage all activities associated with Federal Firearm disposition, acquisition, sales, inventory, and recordkeeping.
• Drive sales through superior merchandising skills and visual product placement.
• Promote Fleet Farm customer loyalty programs and other company initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or related field or equivalent experience preferred.
• 5 years of retail management experience in a Big Box setting.
• Proven ability to lead, coach, and build relationships with subordinates, peers, and Corporate partners.
• Ability to direct and motivate a diverse population that includes full-time and part-time team members.
• Strong analytical skills to use logic and experience to accomplish business goals.
