About the position

The General Manager is responsible for overseeing operations within a proposed new business unit at Transdev, focusing on delivering safe and reliable transit services. This role involves managing employee oversight, contract assets, risk management, and ensuring client and customer satisfaction while achieving financial performance goals.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with employees, clients, union partners, and the community.
  • Set commercial and operational strategic direction for the business unit team.
  • Lead the management team and workforce to achieve safety goals, service performance, and financial objectives.
  • Identify and develop business growth opportunities.
  • Optimize the return on assets deployed, including vehicle scheduling and maintenance.
  • Analyze KPIs to maintain positive operational results.
  • Ensure services are provided within budget and develop action plans for operational efficiencies.
  • Determine and deliver the business unit budget.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and corporate safety standards.
  • Manage staff development and training in collaboration with the corporate team.
  • Ensure effective environmental compliance and sustainability management.
  • Collect, compile, analyze, and report data accurately.

Requirements

  • Completion of a four-year college degree in a relevant field is desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years as a successful General Manager of a project of similar size and scope.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing a turnkey ADA paratransit operation with over 100 daily runs.
  • Labor relations experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal and state employment laws.
  • Thorough knowledge of ordinances and regulations underlying transit operations.
  • 3-5 years of recent and relevant direct experience managing fixed-route service.
  • Prior experience working with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent presentation skills.

  • Experience in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation, or related fields.
  • Understanding of transportation technology and apps.
  • Ability to influence people at all levels of the organization.
