About the position
The General Manager at Dairy Queen is responsible for overseeing the dining room and kitchen functions, ensuring exceptional customer service, and managing the restaurant's profit and loss. This role requires a positive and energetic leader who is passionate about the Dairy Queen brand and committed to creating memorable experiences for fans. The position involves hiring, training, and developing staff, maintaining food safety standards, and implementing marketing strategies to attract new customers and increase sales.
Responsibilities
- Manage dining room and kitchen functions to ensure excellent customer service.
- Motivate the team to deliver a positive fan experience.
- Develop the restaurant's business plan in collaboration with the owner.
- Manage restaurant profit and loss to optimize sales and profit.
- Meet or exceed Dairy Queen brand standards in inventory and cash controls.
- Hire, train, coach, and develop the store management team and hourly crew members.
- Create and maintain a positive, safe, clean, and inviting environment for fans and team members.
- Ensure food safety is prioritized in store operations and enforce safe food handling practices.
- Incorporate PRIDE systems and routines into daily operations.
- Resolve fan concerns and adhere to Dairy Queen's service recovery standards.
- Develop and implement marketing promotions to attract new fans and increase sales.
- Exhibit a genuine passion for excellence in all aspects of the role.
Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years of restaurant management experience, preferably in quick service restaurants.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Strong hospitality and customer service skills.
- Proven track record of managing cost of goods sold (COGS) and labor effectively.
- Strong knowledge of safe food handling practices and must be ServSafe certifiable.
- Excellent coaching and employee development skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Comfortable standing for entire shifts and able to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in varying temperature ranges.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of overseeing multiple aspects of the business simultaneously.
