About the position

The General Manager is responsible for directing the operations of an assigned IHOP unit, ensuring high standards of guest service, employee management, and compliance with operational procedures. This role involves developing professional relationships, implementing training programs, managing financial objectives, and maintaining restaurant standards to enhance the guest experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain professional relationships with restaurant employees, corporate staff, and guests.
• Implement the Craft Training program for restaurant employees to improve operations and guest experience.
• Execute financial, marketing, guest service, and human resource objectives as per the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
• Manage the restaurant floor and maintain regular contact with guests.
• Handle guest complaints professionally and in a timely manner.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Recruit, train, and retain employees according to SOP.
• Conduct performance appraisals and manage compensation plans for hourly employees.
• Communicate and enforce policies on harassment, discrimination, and diversity.
• Maintain food quality and compliance with SOP regarding specifications and presentation.
• Order supplies timely and maintain inventory levels to avoid stockouts.
• Ensure operational condition of equipment and premises according to regulations and SOP.
• Maintain sanitation practices and ensure proper food storage and handling.
• Develop and maintain a safety program within the restaurant.
• Implement marketing promotions and maintain cleanliness of menus and promotional items.
• Complete required reports and maintain personnel files.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2-4 years of related experience or training in restaurant management.
• Ability to speak and read English and interpret safety and operational documents.
• Mathematical skills to perform basic calculations and interpret data.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
