About the position

Ascent Hospitality is seeking a General Manager for their Marriott Hotel in Huntsville, AL. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing daily hotel operations, ensuring outstanding guest service, and achieving financial profitability. The General Manager will lead various departments, manage budgets, and serve as the primary liaison with hotel owners and corporate entities, all while fostering a positive team environment and maintaining high standards of service and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily hotel operations to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.
  • Lead, direct, and manage all hotel operations including budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
  • Oversee service quality, operational efficiency, guest satisfaction, and compliance with standards.
  • Manage all sources of revenue including rooms, housekeeping, food and beverage, and engineering departments.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Sales and Marketing Programs and Quarterly Sales Strategy Reports.
  • Participate in sales discussions, meetings, and plans, and maintain relationships with key account executives.
  • Create the hotel's annual budget and monitor performance throughout the year.
  • Motivate employees, ensure their development and retention, and conduct regular employee meetings.
  • Conduct daily huddles and weekly leadership meetings with agendas.
  • Select, train, and direct department managers and supervisors, ensuring they are well-versed in policies and procedures.
  • Monitor performance and develop career paths for employees, conducting performance appraisals as needed.
  • Address guest complaints, incidents, and accidents, maintaining a high level of guest satisfaction.
  • Ensure adherence to all franchise and company procedures and regulations, as well as standard operating procedures.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of prior experience as a General Manager in the hospitality industry.
  • Proven experience as a Hotel Manager or relevant role with an emphasis on sales.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle for client meetings.
  • Understanding of hotel management best practices and relevant laws and guidelines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous sales experience preferred.
  • College education preferred.
