About the position

The General Manager (GM) at Howdy Homemade is responsible for overseeing both in-house and out-of-house operations of the ice cream shop, focusing on creating jobs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The GM will lead a team, manage daily operations, ensure customer satisfaction, and maintain profitability while fostering an inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Strive for the very best in customer service at all times.
  • Oversee all aspects of ice cream shop operations.
  • Manage costs to ensure profitability.
  • Manage staff including Heroes, Shift Managers, and Volunteers to create a positive work environment.
  • Model excellent customer service and high store standards for employees.
  • Coach team members to improve customer service skills.
  • Create and manage the schedule for the shop, coordinating staffing with catering event needs.
  • Handle all aspects of staffing, including hiring, coaching, developing, and terminating.
  • Lead team meetings and deliver training to team members.
  • Communicate shop priorities, goals, and results to team members.
  • Drive sales, improve profitability, and enhance guest satisfaction through coaching.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop team members.
  • Plan, monitor, appraise, and review employee performance.
  • Set an example for staff on how to greet, serve, and treat customers.
  • Create and maintain a guest-focused culture in the shop.
  • Review guest feedback and implement action plans for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with brand standards, recipes, and systems.
  • Oversee ice cream production and manage supplies needed for production.
  • Coordinate production schedules for shop and catering needs.
  • Manage cash over/short in the shop and ensure compliance with cash management policies.
  • Conduct self-assessments and action plans to meet shop budget.

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic math and financial management skills.
  • Previous leadership experience in retail, restaurant, or hospitality.
  • Completion of a Food Safety course.
  • Cash handling experience.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Food Handler's Certificate preferred.
  • Experience with TOAST point of sale preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with IDD is preferred.
